Both the upper and lower set look the same  :-)
Anyway, I'm thinking what you are seeing is due to how radius and strength
are formulating the extents.  But I can only make guesses.

Yep. The results are 100% correct as I see it. It's basic geometry really
and has nothing to do with blobs. You can observe the same phenomena using a
union of a cylinder and two spheres.

The strength is constant in all the examples, so I doubt that's what's
causing the confusion. It's merely a matter of radius and scaling. My best
advise would be to re-read my latest reply in that other thread.

The attached scene file shows that a union of a cylinder object and two
sphere objects behave the exact same way. So it has absolutely nothing to so
with blobs. It is a logical and expected result of using non-proportional
scaling.
