Hi!

Do sub prisms with bezier splines work?
Povray 3.1 seems to ignore all prisms with bezier splines that have sub 
prisms and tells me they are not closed.

Example:

prism {
   bezier_spline
   linear_sweep
   0, 1,
   16,
   <3.5, 0.5>, <3.7, 1.9>, <2.4, 4.1>, <-0.7, 2.4>, // sub 1
   <-0.7, 2.4>, <-1.4, -2.1>, <1.6, -3.8>, <3.5, 0.5>,
   <3, 0.6>, <3.2, 1.7>, <2.2, 3.4>, <-0.3, 2.1>,  // sub 2
   <-0.3, 2.1>, <-0.9, -1.5>, <1.5, -2.9>, <3, 0.6>
   
   pigment {
      color rgb <1, 0.5, 0>
   }
}

Your example works fine with current (11) beta of POV-Ray 3.5 so I suppose
there is everything ok with your script but perhaps some bug in 3.1 destroy
shape.

I came across the same problem with 3.1 It is a bug that is fixed in 3.5
