You are going to need to provide more information, that isn't anywhere
near enough to give a meaningful response...what kind of underwater
effect do you want? Murky water? Fading to a blue-green in the distance?
A rippling surface above?
Also, you may want to start your sentences with a capital letter, and
end questions with a "?"(shift-/ on most keyboards). Also check your
spelling at least once. If you do these things, it makes it a lot easier
on others who read your message and who may want to reply, and it only
takes a little bit more effort on your part.

I don't think it's necessary to critisize and nit-pic on every little
thing, especially spelling and grammer. This forum is here to help them with
povray and raytracing, not english and the use there-of.

I'd have to agree here because the possible approaches could be
somewhat different.

Chris, give Robert a break! Or have you never been on IRC or ICQ? :)

This kind of question probably doesn't warrant being in this group,
but since you asked....
I'd say use fog because it will provide a colored opacity with distance.
I'll put an example scene at povray.text.scene-files.

Sorry for being nit-picky...
I have been on IRC...but this isn't IRC. You have time to make some
minimal spelling/punctuation checks on newsgroups. It makes it easier
for you to be understood, is a bit more polite, and makes you look a bit
more intelligent(IMHO).
Also notice I did not mention the grammar. That looked like something
possibly due to not having English as a native language, while the
punctuation and typos looked like laziness.
Anyway, wouldn't this be better in .off-topic if it is going to continue?

This is true, but the forum can't help anyone if readers can't understand
one another. I try to be as clear and precise as possible when I ask a
question, especially when I want a response;) For me spell-checking is
simply hitting F7. However, it sounded to me as if Chris was merely
mentioning a few pointers to someone who may be new and/or have English as a
second language.

In general, you should use green / blue fog or media to give the depth cue,
perhaps add a normal statement to the camera. Other than that, you'd have to be
a bit more specific as to what you want.

And if you are shooting at a shallow water scene, you could use a
plane with a normal and some caustics (either faked or using photons
in MegaPOV) to model the water surface and the sunbeams.

First, sorry about the grammar.
Second, I have not seen to many scenes underwater and was wondering how it
was done.
Actually I would like to do a scene half underwater and half above water.
It would be of a child fishing with a pole go into the water from a boat or
a pier.
Under his boat/pier is a normal size fish which is also about to be eaten by
a model I have of Nessy.
I think it would be fun to do.
See my scene of the unicorn in the appropiate group.
Lastly i have 2 masters degree so please dont insult my intelligence.
