I am play around with glass boxes.

with a light source out side the boxes it looks OK.

when I put the lights in the boxes I got spots of light is mid air.

what am i doing wrong?

here is one of my test models 16 boxes with a light in each of them.

Not easy to see from this, not knowing exactly how it's set up.  Looks like
'max_trace_level' could need an increase for one thing.  Going to guess
those are 'phong' hilights showing up though, making the lights appear on
the inside surfaces of the boxes..

First of all:

The lights are too bright!  With 16 lights it's "flooding" the scene with
lighting, and that's why you're getting "washed out" colours.

Second:

The spots are the highlights on the glass caused by the lights.


Try making the lights darker.

I think I know why, you need the box to have a space in it, and maybe
make a lighted (glow) object inside the glass box
