Any thoughts on this one? Looks a bit like an awsom rolex, but I'm prepared
to give the artist the benefit of the doubt. A little more in the
description might have helped.

I have missed where this expression "awsom rolex" originated from and
thus I'm not 100% sure of its meaning.
Does it mean something like "fake" by any chance? Could someone explain
its history?

Two or three years ago an image of a Rolex watch was posted in p.b.i with the title
"AWSOME
ROLEX".
After some heated posts someone spotted that it was actually a copy of an image from a
commercial website, a photograph IIRC. The perpetrator eventually apologised and
subsequently posted some genuine pov images.

Well, it actually means "real" - fakes are what we want ;)

Nah, it's "fake" the corners are too smooth. Interesting idea, though. 10min
is probabaly how long it took him to scan a piece of paper and map it onto
his shape.

I think it was a 3DS rendering (I remember that I was amazed that so
much people could think it was rendered with POV-Ray, while the poor
quality of reflection mapping was blatant, though the model was done
well).

Really ? Don't remember.

Anyway, since then, whenever someone posts a non-POV-Ray (other
renderer or photograph) image, he uses "awesome rolex" as subject line !
Also that's how we call any fake (intentional or not) image.

Fabien.
