Just out of curiousity, how are the honourable mention awards worked out?

Excluding the winners,

I placed 2nd in artistic merit, after gail
I placed 1st in technical merit (wrongly IMHO, but whatthehell)

However, I get the artistic merit award, not the technical merit award - how
come?

I guess gail complicates things by getting two top places (art and concept)....
I'm just curious as to how the irtc admins resolve this.

For example, if they gave me the technical award, and gail the artistic, then
concept would have gone to blizzard. However, if they gave me the technical and
gail the concept, then artistic would have gone to mg_led.

What it comes down to is me and gail always get an award, but the third award
can go to any of 3 different images, depending on how they resolve in which
catagories me and gail get an award.

BTW. this might account for the delay.

:) I also was confused, but looking at the note about how HM are
selected, I noticed that the important thing is the place *in that
category*. So, if you deserve more than one HM, you get the one for the
category in wich you placed better. Then, as you highest rate is in the
Technical category, you won that HM! So for painting.jpg and juegos.jpg,
look at it again...

Indeed, congrats to you and all other winners and contestants!

Yes, but I got the artistic HM, even though I placed higher in technical...

Sorry, I wrote it wrong: I wanted to say "...as your highest rate is
in the Artistic category, you won that HM!". Your AMerit score is
13.556, while your TMerit score is 13.519. That's what I was refering
to, sorry the confusion. :)

Ah! I hadn't thought of that when puzzling this out - I'll go and take another
look at the results and see if that fits with the HM awards distrib.

Anyway, suits me - I'd rather get artistic than technical. Only nerds get
techinal HM (hi Txemi ;)....

Yes, it fits perfectly! Admins done a great job with this...

Well, I've never won a Concept HM! :( Seems I'm good artistic and
technically, but originality is definitely not my best... there are
tutorials for this out there? :)

Indeed - I've vaguely tried to work out if this system can ever fail, but my
brain started to bleed...

Uhh, nnnhh, mmm, ooh yeah (acting really dumb).

Maybe, but I'm very happy with the result and my first HM in the IRTC. It
was a great effort (and almost a divorce).
Congratulations for your results (remember I told you).
Bye

I'm pretty sure the system would fail if you had entries that scored the
same in all categories. e.g. the image in 1st place had 20 artistic, 20
technical, and 20 concept, the one in second was 19,19,19, then 18,18,18,
then 17,17,17 etc. Who would you give the honourable mentions to? :o)

Okay, it's probably not going to happen. Though it makes me wonder what
happens if two images are tied for first place...
