Hi All,
I have a new release (version 1.85) for WinVote.

For you new voters, WinVote is a Windows program for
voting off-line. Since you have to download all of the
images to view them, why not do the download all at once
and then vote off-line? It is faster and less expensive.
You will need about 20 MB of free disk space. When you
finish voting the program has a function to email your
vote to the IRTC. For help, just press F1 or you can also
email me.

AND YES...
With WinVote you must vote on your own image. Don't worry,
Chip's software will see this and not count it.

NEW FEATURE
Version 1.85 includes a spelling checker for the voter's
comments. This is a very simple spelling checker. It
just uses a binary search to find the words. There are no
tricky algorithms to find conjunctions or other derivatives
from the root word. When the checker stops on a conjunction
just click the "IgnoreAll" button. Sorry, but I didn't have
time to update the help file. I really don't think anyone
will have trouble using this new feature. Just click
on SpellCheck on the Main Menu.

If you are like me, can't spell or type, this spelling
checker will be very useful.
----------
WinVote's installation programs are available for
download from:

Spelling Dictionary

WHERE TO GET THE IMAGES
Remember, you must first unzip ALL of the images,
thumbnails and text files into the proper empty
directories BEFORE executing WinVote. This is
explained in the installation program and the
help file.

To download the images and thumbnails for WinVote

FTP: ftp://ftp.irtc.org/pub/stills/2000-06-30/winvote/

Lastly, please Vote. The competition doesn't work
without your votes and comments. It's a lot of work,
but almost everything worthwhile is.

Good luck to all,
Bob Franke

I am using the latest version of WinVote and it doesn't seem to be
saving my comments on each image. Are other people runing into this
problem as well?

I really have to find a beta tester for this mess,

Josh is right. Please hold off on entering your comments.
I will have a fix by early afternoon, July 4th USA West Coast time.

Sorry for the problems.

This brings up another basic question: I can use WinVote to just post
comments on images, right? or do I have to vote on them for WinVote to
make the submission? I didn't enter this round ( no big surprise there)
but I would still like to comment.

The core concept of WinVote is that all images must be first voted on while
viewing them full size. When this is completed the other functions of the
program are turned on. These include sorting and compiling the vote.txt
file.

Also the IRTC vote submission software will reject an incomplete vote.txt
file.

What you could do is use WinVote to write your comments and then cut and
paste them into the IRTC comments form.

Sorry, but that's the best I can do for now.
