I'm not sure what you are doing with your code. But if you rotate the 
box 90° by X you get the bottom part of the gif showing.


box {<0, 0, 0>, <1, 0.1, 1>
  pigment {Picture}
  rotate 90 * x
  scale <5*(image_width/10), 1, 5*(image_width/10)>
  translate <0, 0, 0>
}
