This low-quality image examplifies what I mean (see same subject under
moray.win)
For some time now, I have been busy reconstructing the Apollo temple at
Didyma. I started to do everything in Moray. However, the temple
platform/floor is not flat but very slightly cambered. To place the 116
columns was a terrible job because each one had to be corrected vertically
for a few millimetres, which is almost impossible to do well as you do not
see where you are exactly. Then, the architraves, and the ceiling elements
had to follow. I stopped then to rethink.

So, I started again, keeping from Moray only the straight, fixed elements
(in grey here), rebuilt the columns in Wings3D, as well as the platform, the
architraves, the ceiling elements, and used trace in pov-ray instead. And
that was extremely easy! The difficulty to place many elements exactly on a
cambered surface, was done automatically here. In addition, the architraves
and entablature are also slightly rotated in order to follow the curvature
of the platform.

Now this possibility of trace would be a huge improvement in Moray!

Thomas
