Over the past year, I have been reviewing my contributions in
anticipation of a restored Object Collection server. Most of them have
had significant updates since the crash; I have uploaded these to
GitHub, with the license upgraded to GNU-LGPL version 3 or later.
Pending details of the restored Object Collection that I need for the
user manuals, I am posting most of the contributions as release
candidates. The updates, since LeForgeron's archive (A) and the server
crash (B), are as follows:
AndroidRobot 6.0-rc.1: (A) The 2019 redesign and robot's standalone
head; (B) the 2023 redesign and accommodation of alternate assumed_gamma
values.
BeamTest 2.0-rc.1: (B) Media and photons are refactored according to
lessons learned last month.
BrightStar5 1.2-rc.1: (B) The 3.8 version check for text handling is
reverted, due to the 3.8 rollback (see also "Changes to text object?"
thread in p.general). Instructions are added for how to update the data
files.
bubble 2.0.1: (B) Bubbles can be untextured; a randomization bias is
corrected; the SDL is brought into namespace compliance; and HTML
documentation is added. This is a production release.
Caption 1.1.1A: (B) Minor update; the license upgrade is not yet uploaded.
CoffeeMug 2.0.1A: (A, B) Minor updates; the license upgrade is not yet
uploaded.
GemCuts 2.0-rc.1: (B) The gem cut from SpectralRender is added.
IntegrateLight 1.0.3-rc.1: (B) Minor: the demo scenes are gamut-mapped.
lrchairs 1.1.1A: (B) Minor update, plus Leroy's new website. The
license upgrade is not yet uploaded.
RC3Metal 2.1-beta.1: (A) Turbulence can be adjusted on galvanized
textures, and the photons bug on blurred reflection is fixed; (B) Major
updates: highlight reform, some default settings are changed,
reflections of objects with blurred reflection also show blurred
reflection, and most recently, the highlight roughness function can be
adjusted without the user having to do math. This update remains in
beta testing while I review the highlight reform; check the Releases
link for the tag. The license upgrade is not yet uploaded.
RoundEdge 2.0A: (A) Rounded boxes with unequal edge radii, and an
interface to the isosurface evaluate feature; (B) minor update; the
license upgrade is not yet uploaded.
ScaryCoronavirus 1.0c-rc.1: (B) User manual correction and CDC archive link.
Spectrum 5.0-rc.1: (B) A new gamut mapping method.
SphereSweep 2.1A: (A) An interface to the PointArrays Object Collection
contribution, and the quadratic Bézier spline type; (B) minor update;
the license upgrade is not yet uploaded.
TheEarth 1.2a: (B) uv-mapping, gamma decoding, and clouds rotate with
the Earth. This is a production release.
TiltedTorus 3.0.1A: (B) Minor update; the license upgrade is not yet
uploaded.

The following libraries have been created since the crash, and are
proposed for the Object Collection:
DeskLamp 2.0.1: Version 2.0 adds flat panel lamps, and version 2.0.1 has
a workaround for the 3.8 photons bug. The license upgrade is not yet
uploaded.
MakeSpectrum 1.1-rc.3: The BT.709/2020 transfer function is added, and
flags are set in the event of unrealistic reflection results.
RC3Wood 2.0: No changes since the initial upload, so the license upgrade
is not yet uploaded.
ShapeOfTheDay 2.1.1-beta.1: Version 2.1 adds flat panel lamps, and
version 2.1.1 fixes the bug in lamps near the ceiling center. This
update remains in beta testing while I investigate an issue with light
bulbs; check the Releases link for the tag.
SpiralImage 2.1-rc.1: Version 2.1 adds gamma decoding for image maps.

I hate that I have to bring politics into this, but as jr once quoted
author Bangambiki Habyarimana in another thread, "Life is politics, you
do it or it does you." Three of my user manuals have links to USA
government websites, but lately, the trustworthiness of USA government
agencies has come into question.
Also, I can't be sure that NSPM-7 doesn't apply to me, so I want to get
my stuff out before I'm deported to South Sudan.
ScaryCoronaVirus has links to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC). As the CDC is now being run by a lunatic, I have
added an early January link from the Wayback Machine.
DeskLamp links to EnergyStar. As the president is a climate change
denier, I will add an early January link from the Wayback Machine.
Since there are no changes to DeskLamp features since my last upload,
and (unlike the CDC) EnergyStar misinformation is not a matter of life
and death, I won't bother uploading the Wayback link before the Object
Collection comes back online.
One would think that saving money would be enough to value energy
efficiency, but we have "coal rollers" in the states who deliberately
waste fuel for no other reason than to pollute the air. Sanity is lost
here. Hopefully, the president values his own pocketbook and will leave
EnergyStar alone.
BrightStar5 links to a NASA database. As this site is interactive,
there's no point in linking to an archive.

I hope staying still, crossing fingers without holding our breaths untill a more
sane situation comes back will bear fruits.
